Accessible guided tours in Rome

We are immensely proud to be able to provide this service to those who would otherwise have difficulty visiting Rome. What are the advantages of touring Rome in a golf cart for those with mobility problems?  The golf cart makes Rome accessible to everyone, as we can drive them remarkably close to the places you wish to visit.  Golf carts can pass through areas of the old city where cars cannot drive and would be difficult to explore on foot,  especially for those with mobility problems. Anyone can enjoy visiting Rome thoroughly, easily, and comfortably, whether they’re alone or with family and friends. The golf cart drives faster than a person walks, so you maximize your visiting time by covering a lot of ground. The guide’s fascinating narration will help you familiarize yourself with the history of Rome and really get to know the city.

Golf Carts

My Best Tour’s fleet of golf carts is the largest in Rome.
We use the most appropriate golf carts to accommodate groups of different sizes. Large groups, with more than seven participants, are accommodated in multiple carts and tour in a motorcade. The carts are provided with special seats when transporting children. The carts have space to store strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, and lightweight electric scooters. All carts are equipped with plastic covers to protect the passengers in case of bad weather.

Winter kit: when it gets cold, the guests are given poncho raincoats and blankets.

The walking tour of the Vatican for seniors and disabled using walking aids

Crucial: Your disability must be proven by a statement from a hospital or doctor. Duration about 5 hours including transfers.
Private guided tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica. The tour is led by a private guide, and guests are provided with skip-the-line tickets. This tour includes transfers by private car from your place of stay to the Vatican Museums, from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter’s and then back to your place of stay.

What makes visiting the Vatican difficult for people with walking aids is that they are not allowed to go down the steps that connect the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Square, even if they physically could.

The Vatican tour for people with mobility issues lasts 5 hours because we include all private car transfers for our guests throughout the tour:

○ From your place of stay to the Vatican Museums.

○ From the Vatican Museums to St. Peter’s Basilica.

○ From St. Peters Basilica to your place of stay.

The transfer from the Vatican Museums to St. Peter’s is crucial because people with walking aids are not allowed to go down the steps that connect the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Square, even if they physically could.

Not being able to use this shortcut, to reach St. Peter’s, they should walk back to the entrance of the Vatican Museums and, from there, reach St. Peter’s from the outside.

Not counting the internal part of the Vatican Museums, this would be an extra mile to walk.

What’s included and how this tour is handled:

Transfer by private car, private guide speaking your language and skip the line tickets.

  • We meet you at your place and drive you to our office in a private car or minivan, depending on your group’s size.
Our office is very close to the Vatican Museums’ entrance:
    Via Santamaura, 9, 00192 Roma Phone +390694329438
  • Once at our office, meet your guide and start your private tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
  • After visiting the Sistine Chapel, you walk all the way back to the entrance the Vatican Museums and, once you exit the venue, meet with your driver again and transfer to St. Peters’ Square.
  • Once at St. Peters’ Square you’ll have to go through security check again, but without having to stand in line, because those with mobility issues have a privileged access.
  • After visiting St. Peter’s, you’ll once again meet your driver and drive back to your place.
  • Your guide will be assisting you throughout the whole tour and, beside illustrating the artworks, will also help wit the logistics, like entry formalities, contacting the driver and whatever else will be necessary.

Crucial: Your disability must be proven by a statement from a hospital or doctor.

Crucial: people using walking aids cannot walk down the ramp going from the Sistine to St. Peter’s Basilica, they must go back to the Museums’ entrance and reach the Basilica by circling outside the Vatican City walls. For this reason, we provide car transfers from your place of staying to the Vatican

Museums’, from there to St. Peter’s and finally, from St. Peter’s back to your place of staying. Consequently, the Vatican tour’s time ends up being four hours, 5 + if you include transfers’ time.

Roadworks around the Vatican in preparation for the Jubilee 2025 and the resulting traffic reorganization, as well as the events planned for the Jubilee itself, are causing such traffic chaos that we are unable to reach our office near the Vatican, Via Santamaura 9, in an acceptable time frame. Therefore, from October 1, 2024 to a date to be determined, we will not consider our office near the Vatican, Via Santamaura 9, as a starting point for golf cart tours, but only for Vatican tours.

“Awesomely incredible. What a way to see Rome. Searched "Rome for those with mobility issues" and found this company. Gianna was so helpful in setting up our nighttime tour and 2 days of golf cart tours. Raphael, who is a delightful young man and excellent tour guide, took us to the usual tourist spots and also some of his favorite places. He also took us to a few places we wanted to see that weren't on their usual itinerary. The golf carts can go into the little alleys and piazzas that we would never have been able to see. Eating pizza for lunch from a little bakery while sitting in the golf cart was one of our highlights. Pasta carbonara and Tiramasu while waiting for Laura to take us on our Vatican tour wwe the best we had in our 2 weeks in Italy. Highly recommend this company whether you have mobility issues or not.”

“I recently took some older family members to Rome for a week. I looked online for suitable tour operators as my family weren’t up to extensive walking Day after day. We booked one half day tour and one evening tour. It was exactly what we were looking for. Our guide spoke great English. He listened to our interests and modified the tour accordingly. Would def recommend, especially for people with limited mobility or time. Thanks!”
