TOURS FOR DISABLED

Disabled accessible sightseeing tours of Rome

We are specialized in tours for the disabled and who has mobility problems. It is very important for us to be able to provide a service to whom otherwise would find hard to visit Rome. We are very proud that, the help of our guides, everyone can get close to Rome’s beautiful monuments, churches, etc and can visit Rome either on their own or with family and friends, in a comfortable manner. Our tours will ensure that you maximize your time sightseeing whilst your guide will fascinate you with Rome’s history. The fact that the golf cart will almost always take you to the entrance of the sights is fundamental for who has a problem with mobility.

Sightseeing in Rome with a mobility problem? Resolved!
Tour in a golf cart, with a private guide!

If walking is a problem but you want to see Rome, this is the tour for you!
Touring by golf cart is the very best way to tour Rome for a disabled person, who has a wheelchair, stroller or even just a senior citizen! We have special golf carts that accommodate three people and store a wheelchair! Everyone sits facing forward, no-one feels excluded. The golf cart makes the tour of Rome very special and easy for people with walking problems. These little electric cars are allowed to drive practically anywhere, especially if a disabled person is aboard. We can take two people and a wheelchair in the standard golf cart or three people in the “deluxe”. The golf carts are very easy to get in and out of even for people with limited mobility, they have no doors.
Please note that our largest golf cart takes 6 passengers but if there is a wheelchair this will reduce the space to 5 passengers (plus the wheelchair). Groups of 6 and over will need 2 or more golf carts.

Tours start at 9.30am e 2.30pm
We have a variety of tour available that you can view here.

The tour of the Vatican for seniors and disabled

We organize “skip the line” tickets to enter the Museum. The complete tour takes 3 hours (but it can be shortened if you wish), and leaves from our offices near the Museum entrance, we advise a 1.30 – 2.00pm start.
Your authorized English speaking Vatican tour guide (also other languages available) will explain everything as you pass through the following itinerary: Belvedere Courtyard, Pigna Courtyard, Library Gallery, Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of Maps and finally to the Sistine Chapel.

To get from the entrance of the Museum to the Sistine Chapel it will take between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on your interest and how the crowds will be moving inside the Museums the day of your visit. From the Sistine Chapel our guide will take you directly into St. Peter’s Basilica (avoiding a long walk and queues into St. Peters).
The tour of St. Peter’s Basilica, still depending on your interest, will require between 30 minutes and one hour. In St. Peter’s you’ll see the famous Pietà by Michelangelo, the funeral monuments of the Popes who are buried in the Basilica, made by the most famous artists, the mosaics, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, Bernini’s Canopy, St. Peter’s Statue, Peter’s Throne and many other fantastic works of art.

Important Vatican Museum wheelchair information

Wheelchairs are available free of charge at the entrance to the Vatican Museums.
These free wheelchairs that the Vatican provides can only be used in the Museums and the Sistine Chapel, you cannot take the wheelchair with you to St. Peter’s Basilica, they must be returned to the entrance of the Vatican Museums. This is ok should you wish to visit only the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.
Since a tour is not complete without visiting St Peter’s Basilica our clients normally choose a tour that enables them to visit the Vatican Museum, Sistine chapel and continue with a short cut going directly into St Peter’s Basilica. In this case, the free wheelchair becomes a problem, as it means you’ll have to go all the way back to the entrance to return it and you’ll not be able to go directly from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica, like most people do, and save a lot of walking and time.
If you need to use a wheelchair for the whole Vatican tour, which includes the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, we have wheelchairs that we rent to our customers, for the price of 30 Euros for the tour. They can be picked up from our offices, where you will meet your guide for your private tour of the Vatican, at the end of the tour you must bring it back to our offices again. It is also possible to book with us a person who pushes the wheelchair for the duration of the tour, at the cost of 60 euro) he would then bring the wheelchair back to our offices.

Free admission at the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. People with permanent disabilities and one person who accompanies them, do not have to pay the admission fee to enter the Vatican Museums, a statement from a doctor or hospital certifying the disability is required.

If you use a mobility scooter, or even a wheelchair, and you cannot walk down the steps which from the Sistine Chapel take you to St. Peter’s, you’ll have to go all the way back to the entrance, then circle around the outside of the Vatican city walls and enter St. Peter’s from the square.
From the Sistine Chapel there are steps that take you directly to St Peter’s (saving going back to the museum entrance and circling around the Vatican walls). If you can walk down these 5 flights of stairs, a wheelchair can be used beforehand and then it can be folded, carried down the stairs and used for the rest of the tour.
However, if you use an electrical mobility scooter this would be too heavy to carry down the steps, so circling the Vatican walls is the only solution. If you would like to rent from us a wheelchair for this tour, it has a cost of 30 euro, it has to be returned to our offices at the end of the tour.

“Awesomely incredible. What a way to see Rome. Searched "Rome for those with mobility issues" and found this company. Gianna was so helpful in setting up our nighttime tour and 2 days of golf cart tours. Raphael, who is a delightful young man and excellent tour guide, took us to the usual tourist spots and also some of his favorite places. He also took us to a few places we wanted to see that weren't on their usual itinerary. The golf carts can go into the little alleys and piazzas that we would never have been able to see. Eating pizza for lunch from a little bakery while sitting in the golf cart was one of our highlights. Pasta carbonara and Tiramasu while waiting for Laura to take us on our Vatican tour wwe the best we had in our 2 weeks in Italy. Highly recommend this company whether you have mobility issues or not.”

“I recently took some older family members to Rome for a week. I looked online for suitable tour operators as my family weren’t up to extensive walking Day after day. We booked one half day tour and one evening tour. It was exactly what we were looking for. Our guide spoke great English. He listened to our interests and modified the tour accordingly. Would def recommend, especially for people with limited mobility or time. Thanks!”
